Thanks for all of the great feedback. Most of you really liked 1 & 3 or 4. A suggestion to combine them was given. So here it is. I’m not sure, its a bit busy right now. I might go with the photo on the front of the box and the collage of drawings on the back. Could also try different proportions in the above image (more photo, less drawing)?

new logo/name
So I know a lot of you liked the hand drawn version, but I just wasn’t feelin’ it. There was some concern about boopie looking like poop or boob so I tried shortening the word. I like it, and as an added bonus, its more symmetrical.
new format
I would still like to test them out but I think I will go for the black outlines. People could leave the cards as they are that way or add to them with media. The type is still in the experiment phase–I’ve been cleaning up and redrawing images. As always, comments welcome.

Getting somewhere?
Ok, well, opinions were split on black vs light outlines. I think I will go with the light outlines because that way you would have the option of adding them yourself–some folks may not want to see the outlines.
I’m also getting mixed feedback about a hand done logo. Pretty much split down the middle as well. I prefer the “slick” logo but we’ll see.
I have ordered some paper samples and requested a printing estimate! Finally!

LOGO v LOGO
Ok, so SF suggested that my logo might be a bit too slick and polished for all of my hand-made stuff. I admit I was conflicted about this. In an effort to stay with my hand-made theme, I have tried drawing my logo. Neil thinks this is much more “me.”
Anyone have a preference?

Back in the Saddle again!
Ok, so I am back to work on these darn cards again. I have a few more styles, a logo, and some fun ideas.
I am thinking about these DIY alphabet cards a bunch. So the DIY alphabet cards are just outlines of images/letters on heavy card and you can paint/color/collage/etc to suit your style. I am thinking it would be fun to have a set at a baby shower and all of the guests could chip in and design a letter or two, or your child could “color” them, or of course you could color them yourself.
I think the DIY cards are a super idea but I wonder if anyone else does?
I also want opinions on whether to go with black outlines (like a coloring book) or to go with pale (disappearing) outlines. See examples below:
FYI: The photos on the previous post use the pale outline version of the DIY cards.
Feedback anyone?
Logo for my company “Boopiebird” (the bird is made from letters!):
Another style (collage)–not sure yet how to handle the letters:
Another idea, not sure how its working–still needs some exploration (front and back shown):

Foopie Press-Kit Wins ADDYs
Well, while the Foopies press-kit did not get any attention from publishers or Martha, it did win some ADDY’s! The press-kit won a Gold ADDY and the Best in Show: Print, at this year’s Tuscaloosa Advertising Federation ADDYs. The press-kit also won a Gold ADDY at the 7th District ADDY Awards (regional ADDYs including work from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Southeast Louisiana)! Maybe the AAF will publish them?

DIY Boopies
Here it is: the DIY version of Foopies. The A or Airplane card is shown here customized in a variety of ways, including collage, paint, ink pen and colored pencil. I really LOVE the DIY idea, I had a lot of fun playing with mediums and colors!

I’m working on this other set of alphabet cards:
They are a combination of painting and linocuts and fabulous Italian papers (on back) on binders board, all with hand-painted lettering. Click here to see more!

OHHH, LA LA
Came across some great kids’ products at Romp. Foopies would play well with Romp.
Also some great wall art at Avalisa. My son would really enjoy the things that go: cars canvas.
